Some things will forever and always be shocking to us, and kids doing things like this to helpless animals will always be one of them. This is the kind of behavior that should not be accepted by any decent parents. It is something that kids should be explicitly taught not to do - to not harm others. And since there is a part of us that wants to give the parents the benefit of the doubt, we will, and we will say that if this is something inherent in the kid, if this is not their fault, then the only thing that we regret would be you not being able to reach out and inform the parents of their child's behavior, so that they might notice the early signs of the madness that you saw unfolding before you.

We could not have asked for a better update. And this kitten, truly, could not have asked for a better human. For you to do what you did, to go out of your way and confront someone doing something this crazy, despite the risk to yourself… this kitten could not be in safer hands. She is in the best place that she can pawssibly be right now.

The way that kids treat cats is one of the best indicators of whether they are good humans or not.
And it really can go either way. Not all kids are bad, and not all kids are good. We have seen kids rescuing kittens that have been abandoned, we have seen kids trying to harm kittens, and we have seen kids saving kittens from those other kids who were harming them. We would like to say that we are not surprised when either happens, but somehow, we are surprised by both. We both don't expect the cruelty that some kids have in their hearts to be able to harm innocent creatures like these, but we also don't expect the maturity that they would have to show to rescue kittens in need of help.
Today's story has both - the bad kid and the god kid. Unfortunately, we don't know the age of the person who saved this kitty, so we can't quite add it to our stats. But we do know that this person is a daughter, a daughter who brought the kitten she rescued to her mom, no less. And so the age doesn't matter. No matter how old she is now, we know that this is one child who was raised right.
